Fair Use On Last Legs?

from the fair-use-for-who? dept

Businessweek is running an article summarizing the Elcomsoft & SonicBlue legal cases (both of which we’ve discussed plenty around here) pointing out (as we’ve all been saying) that it shows just how fragile some of our fair use rights may be. There’s nothing particularly new in the article that you probably haven’t read elsewhere, but it does show that even “business” focused publications are finding the destruction of fair use questionable. I’ve said over and over again that destruction of fair use is a bad business decision on the part of businesses. This isn’t a “consumer vs. business” issue. It’s one of stupid greedy businesses who are hurting themselves.
