Make The Professionals Pay More For Domain Names
from the yeah,-that's-the-ticket... dept
With all these new top level domain offerings, you would think it would help to drive the prices down. However, people are so used to paying high prices for “professional” services (lawyers, accountants, doctors) that they generally assume you can get them to pay more for your services. So, I guess it comes as no surprise that the new .pro domains (which are only for lawyers, accountants & doctors) are going to cost upwards of 10x what a .com domain costs. I would guess this is the suckers play, as the .pro registrar is hoping that they’re dealing with professionals who aren’t tech savvy enough to know they’re getting ripped off.

I guess this must be an Australian thing…but here “pro” has dual meanings.
