Will Yahoo Ditch Google?

There has been a lot of shuffling recently of search engine providers, with many of the battles being between Overture and Google. Now, Yahoo’s deal with Google is just about up, and many are wondering if Yahoo will ditch Google in favor of Inktomi. They’re saying this not because Inktomi is better, but because Yahoo is afraid that Google is turning into a competitor – and because Inktomi may be cheaper. Inktomi, of course, used to provide Yahoo’s search functionality before Google unseated them. Of course, which search engine is actually better doesn’t seem to be one of the criteria Yahoo is looking at right now.

a long time ago, I think I was saying Yahoo and Google were becoming competitors, and no one believed me.

I still don’t believe it. 🙂 I think that if Yahoo thinks they’re competing with Google than they’re making a very big strategic mistake.
