US Economy Bouncing Back?

from the maybe dept

The Economist is taking a look at the latest US economic numbers and whether or not it’s a big deal. I spent some of this morning at a talk by Ray Kurzweil who remains extraordinarily optimistic (as is his natural state). It was an interesting talk, and cool to think about, but I came out thinking that it’s useful to think about such things in moderation. Yes, the computing power changes and gets more impressive – but how will that actually affect what you see on a daily basis, and how long will it take to permeate through the market. I find myself thinking the same thing about the economic “recovery”. I think that people put too much emphasis on the day to day numbers, and the market (and people’s perception of the market) swing too wildly along with that.
