Esther Dyson Speaks And Speaks
from the and-speaks... dept
I’m not sure where I stand on Esther Dyson. She’s certainly smart, and has quite a following when it comes to the technology world – but often it seemed that she was generating a lot of hype without substance. Here’s an interview with her where she talks about her opinion of ICANN (she’s not happy with it, despite being a big part of it and refers to its members as “kids with wrinkles”) as well as things she got wrong in her book Release 2.0. She underestimated the need for privacy safeguards on the internet – believing people would protect themselves. I must admit, I’m always impressed when someone admits that they got certain things wrong.
