It's Even Easier To Fake Online News

from the just-click-here dept

Yesterday we did a public service announcement reminding people not to trust anything they read online. Little did we know that there’s a site out there that makes it easy to fake the news with just a click of your mouse. The site, FakedNews.com let’s you easily create your own fake news stories that look just like the real thing (even including the famous misleading URL trick – so unsuspecting folks won’t realize). It’s all for fun (they say) and they shut down sites that abuse it. They also provide a pop up telling people that the news they read is a spoof to protect them. In this day of using the web to automate everything we even have automated scams.
