Musicians Supporting File Sharing

from the music-labels-don't-represent-artists dept

An interesting article over at Salon talking about a marginally successful musician who has never received any royalties from his music and points out that the record companies are lying when they say they’re representing musicians’ best interests. This, of course, should come as a surprise to no one, and plenty of other artists (most famously, of course, was Courtney Love) have said similar things. In this case, though, the guy wrote a letter to the judge in the Napster case pleading his side – and saying that he would prefer that his music be freely available on Napster – no matter what his “representatives” at Sony say.
