Can't Make Money On Colo

from the bad-business dept

It’s amazing how much the various data center/co-location places charge – and yet they can’t seem to stay in business. After all the problems people had moving their servers away from Exodus, I hope they didn’t move them to Abovenet (probably the second most popular colo after Exodus). Metromedia Fiber, who owns Abovenet has announced that they don’t have enough money to make it through the year. Slowly but surely, the internet is shutting down. Soon, everyone will have to host with a big telecom firm such as AT&T or Worldcom – and these days, who knows if they’re going to stay in business.
