California's Oracle Deal Full Of Mistakes

from the oops dept

Last year we had an article about how the state of California probably did something very wrong in signing a deal with Oracle without letting any other company bid on the project. Now a state audit suggests that things are even worse than they originally appeared. Not only did the state not put the project out for bid, but most of the state organizations who the project was for said they had no interest in it. Furthermore, the company that did the projections on how much the system would save the state had a financial interest in the deal (they were Oracle resellers) and no one in the state checked their numbers.
