Bionic Eyes

from the restoring-sight dept

Some researchers may have figured out the trick to creating a “bionic eye” that could be used in helping blind people see. They’re still a long way off from making something that is actually functional, but it appears some breakthroughs have been made – so that at least people think it’s possible. Maybe they should team up with Professor Makoto Asashima in Japan who is working on ways to grow eyeballs and you could have a very Blade Runner-like eyeball production center. Of course, if you’re going to build bionic eyes, you have to wonder if they’ll be able to add “extra” features, like the ability for the eye to double as computer monitor for your head.
