IM At Work Growing, But Not That Quickly
from the slow-and-steady dept
A new study of how people use instant messaging at work has found that many companies do officially use it as a communications tool – but not nearly as many as the research company orginally expected. I don’t think this is all that surprising. It seems that companies are being cautious about officially supporting IM as they have some security concerns – and everyone is still trying to figure out which IM product is worth using. Anyway, I think any prediction from “three years ago” would be suspect – just because that was in the midst of when any analyst felt it was his or her duty to assume that everyone would adopt everything in a matter of months.

IM is too fractured (competing app’s). SMS coupled with a special email address is my IM. Best of all, I don’t need to be at my pc…
I know, I’m missing out on bells & whistles with this approach, but it’s simple.
