$40 For A Volume Control Knob
from the sign-me-up dept
Apparently the new computer accesory fad that everyone must get is a huge volume control knob that costs $40. Seems a bit extreme? Apparently it has flashing colors, though, and that seems to be the thing that attracts most buyers (“ooh, look at the pretty colors…”). It can also be programmed to do other tasks within certain programs, and I can see how it could be useful in some cases as a jog dial type of device. However, most people seem to just use it as a huge pulsating volume control. They quote someone saying, “it’s incredibly useless, I use it every day.” Sounds like my kind of toy.

Yep!
Saw these things demoed at MacWorld, they might actually be useful for some things. Looks like you can use them as a jog dial for video editing, which given the cost of video editing for some people, 40$ is basically free and any improvement to scanning through the video is probably welcome.
I want 3!
