A BBC article about the DJ-I Robot from MIT. It’s a robotic DJ that can spin tunes all night, scratching and doing all sorts of other stuff usually associated with human DJs… They say it’s very good, but not good enough yet to out-DJ the really good humans. They said they had a competition, human against robot, at an underground warehouse party in Brooklyn, and they “went up against a DJ who schooled us proper.” However, the researchers behind the DJ say they’re only getting better. They’re planning on recording the motions of some of the best DJs and mixing them into the “perfect DJ”.
