AP Discovers Craigslist
from the party's-over dept
If you live in the SF Bay Area, you are probably quite familiar with Craigslist. It’s been around forever, and it’s basically “how you get things done” around here, if you want to buy or sell something, find a job, hire someone, or get an apartment. I guess the Associated Press is out looking for random dot com “success” stories these days because suddenly, for no particular reason, they’re doing a story about Craigslist and how he’s slowly expanding into other locations.

I thought “Craig” was debunked a while back…
Re: rumors of my existence
That’s what happens when we send out a press release denying my existence… on 4/1/2001.

Nice. Thanks for debunking your own debunking.
Google cache to the rescue.
Also, Craigslist themselves archived the SFBG article about his non-existence by Annalee Newitz who seems to show up just about everywhere.
I hadn’t heard about the joke at the time, but I may have been too involved trying to disprove other people’s existences.

Thanks!
