Can I See Your eBay License?

This NY Times article talks about how they’re considering a law in Japan that will require anyone who wants to sell anything in an online auction to get a license. That’s right, in Japan, you might need a license to eBay. Obviously, folks at eBay aren’t thrilled about this possibility. Of course, it certainly could cut down on fraud.

i disagree, mcFly. it could provide a shit load of extra revenues for ebay. a nice cloaked way to charge a ‘registration fee’. 42 million users * $5 a licence = $200 million ….BOOOOOOOOYA !!

That’s odd. I don’t recall reading that eBay would be the Japanese government agency responsible for issuing the licenses…
