Build Your Own IM Bots

from the for-fun-and-for-profit dept

ActiveBuddy is going to be opening up a developer program with tools that will let anybody create their own instant messenger bots. They plan to charge a licensing fee, and hope that it will increase the use of such bots. Of course, you don’t need to go through ActiveBuddy to build an AIM bot (link thanks to GMSV). I think I want to build the Mike-bot that will respond to all of my friends’ IMs while I’m busy. I don’t think I usually have anything so insightful to say that I can’t program it into a bot.
