Sharing Too Many Files

from the learn-to-use-a-computer,-people dept

Ah, isn’t the internet great? Here’s an article from MSNBC about how many clueless computer users are using file sharing programs they don’t understand and are exposing all sorts of private and confidential files. These include financial information, confidential legal letters, government information, and info on where someone was going on vacation. Most of the article focuses on a guy who actually surfs around the various programs looking for such info – and then (thankfully) alerts the folks who exposed them. In some cases, it’s due to kids setting up file sharing programs, and their parents not even realizing they’re saving documents to “exposed” directories. In other cases (government and offices) it sounds like it’s just completely clueless people.
