The Internet Is Bad Because It Doesn't Express My Point Of View

from the cry-me-a-river dept

I’ve been seeing a number of articles like this, but thankfully, they haven’t been showing up in the tech press lately. However, News.com was in need of a column, so they copied what’s being said elsewhere. They got someone to write a column about how the major sites on the internet express the mainstream point of view (what a surprise!) – and thus the internet is a failure. The fact is, it is much easier now than ever before to read whatever opinions you want. Sure it takes a little work, but much less than ten years ago. I don’t care what your politics are, you can find someone who supports without much effort. Most of this article is unsubstantiated assertions that Americans are not reading sites that support the author’s point of view. I don’t see how that means the internet has failed. What it really means is she hasn’t done enough to make her political views mainstream. Most people don’t read websites that support my point of view either, but I’m not complaining.
