Digital Payola

from the paypal-publicity dept

PayPal must have their PR people working overtime these days, as they try to push forward towards that IPO. There have been a lot of pretty negative articles about the company’s chances, but MIT’s Tech Review has a very interesting, and very positive look at PayPal. The first half focuses on the fraud prevention technology that PayPal has created. While it wasn’t so long ago that PayPal admitted fraud was a huge problem for them, it appears they’re getting pretty close to getting it under control. The rest of the article talks about how PayPal got to where they are today, and how they have avoided making the mistakes that other players in the space have made. I’m still not convinced PayPal is going to make it, but this article is definitely worth reading if you want to know what makes them go.
