Oh Crap, There Goes My Broadband
from the uh-oh dept
Mike Lohse writes “CNET is reporting that Friday may be more appropriately called Black Friday for Excite@Home customers. The article reports that Excite@Home may be pulling the plug on cable internet subscribers. Bummer of a birthmark, Hal. Serious bummer for those of us who enjoy and depend on the service (and didn’t have to wait 3-4 weeks for installation). Let’s hope AT&T comes to bail the Scooby Mystery van out.” Lovely. I am, of course, in the same boat – as I use AT&T@Home. I’ve only had the service for a few weeks. I knew I never should have trusted AT&T when they told me they had “contingency” plans should this happen.

It was a weird news release. Sounded like a scare tactic. But you never know. Time for 4 million people to dust of their 56k modems, just in case…Time for that annoying screetching modem sound again, LOL
