The TechGuard

from the hmm dept

A NY Times article about how some are pushing for a technology national guard of volunteers, similar to the Peace Corp. or AmeriCorps. The idea would be that these TechGuard folks would receive some form of training and could come in and help with technology issues in emergency situations, such as September 11th. It certainly seems like a good idea, in general, but I’m still wondering if it’s really needed. The real benefit, in my mind, might go in the opposite direction – in that it would get government officials to (maybe? possibly?) realize the importance of our technology infrastructure.
