The Virtual Golf Association

from the well,-that's-scary dept

Apparently, there’s a Virtual Golf Association that hold a tournament each year to determine the best virtual golf player and award them prizes, just like a real golf tournament. Of course, the Virtual Golf Association was actually set up by Microsoft, and is only for people playing their golf game. While they say they try to make it realistic, it seems that some people have figured out how to be just a bit better than their real-life counterparts. Scores of 50 below par are common, apparently. Contestants are allowed to use their own keyboards and mice for the competition (phew), but have to use it on a standard computer. I guess that just like various Quake or whatever tournaments, video game tournaments of all kinds may become more like “real” sporting events and competitions in the future.
