Beam Me Up, Scottie

from the 3D-for-everybody dept

Mike Lohse writes “The future is here! The New York Times reports on a teleportation product now on the market which beams real time video of people onto a pane of glass (registration required) at a remote location, creating a 3D likeness of the person. The company, called Teleportec produce a device that looks like a podium, above which the remote person’s upper body is projected. Probably not a bad implementation — just need a broadband connection, and you could be delivering that keynote speech across the country from the comfort of your living room.”
