NetRatings Buys Jupiter Media Metrix

from the and-then-there-was-one dept

The amazing world of consolidation continues as NetRatings is buying Jupiter Media Metrix for $71.2 million. I remember when there were a ton of companies trying to measure internet traffic. Now it seems like there will be just one – so, even though no one will believe their numbers, we’ll only be able to scoff at one listing. One good thing that might come out of this is that Jupiter was the ratings company that included popups in their ratings. NetRatings does not. So, maybe we can finally stop counting pop ups as legitimate page views.
