Should Intel Stick To Its Day Job?

from the keep-on-investing dept

An interesting article in Business Week looking at Intel’s venture capital philosophy. Recently they’ve been losing a lot of money from their investments, but they’re going to stick with it (unlike many other corporate VC programs that have been shut down). To them, the purpose of their investments (and everything that they do) is to drive the sale of Intel chips. So, any investment that helps that goal is considered a good investment. For instance, the article points out they consider eToys a successful investment, but not Micron (even though they made a lot more money off of Micron).
