Spam Is Illegal, But No One Cares

from the oh-well dept

It turns out that spam is illegal in California. Great. Except that I still get about 20 spam emails a day. What can I do about it? Nothing. The E-commerce Times tried to figure out what California was doing to enforce anti-spam laws and the answer seems to be “not a hell of a lot”. No one even seems to be completely clear on who’s supposed to do what, and what those people are supposed to do. It’s good to see the government looking out for our interests.
