The Internet Is Becoming Unusable

from the run!--hide! dept

Ah, you have to love the crazy anti-virus firms. One of them has put out a ridiculous press release saying that the internet will become unusable by 2008 due to viruses. Seems like a simple case of extrapolation by these guys who need to keep the fear levels high to make their money. When confronted about the press release by the good folks at the Register, a spokesperson admitted that perhaps it was a little “alarmist”. Now they tell us? What about those poor souls who gave up the internet for good after hearing that Code Red was going to kill the internet? Are they like the Y2K crazies who are still bunkered down in mountain hideouts waiting for the fallout from Y2K nuclear apocalypse to subside before venturing forth?

Another form of Nimda - very bad

Hi, All:

Seems like a new harmful virus is popping up every day (this one just
discovered today). This one is just as detrimental as some of those that
have appeared over the last month or two. So, I’m
forwarding this email on to each of you with links to the InfoWorld site and
the Symantec site for more info, and will encourage all of you to do a “Live
Update” and a system scan right now, and maybe set your Live Update schedule
to update more often.

Good luck, and be virus-free!!!
