Nanotech A Better Investment Than Dot Coms
from the well,-duh dept
A nanotech expert tried to tell people this week that investing in nanotech companies was a better investment than investing in dot coms. Considering that just about any investment these days would be a better investment than investing in dot coms, that doesn’t seem to be saying very much. Hell, the “investment advice” email that I’ve received 5 copies of in the past week which reads: “If you bought $1,000 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49. If you bought $1,000 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer, and traded in the cans for the nickel deposit, you would have $79. My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.” represents just as valuable investment advice. By the way, I’d give credit to whoever came up with that investment advice, but none of the emails seems to say who came up with it (and I also haven’t bothered to check if it’s true – though, that probably depends on the beer can deposit laws of your home state, province, country, etc).

nice...
Overhyped nano-tech really irritates me… (Ahem) Next thing you know, every company will claim to use nano-tech when they really just do unremarkable chemistry….
Hype!!!
People have been hyping nanotech for years – look at drexler who parlayed what was essentially a science fiction book into a whole career! Sure people have built some stuff, and maybe some things will come out of it, but I am not holding my breath.

What are some companies currently running projects in nanotech anyone know? I’m hoping you check old messages.
