PR Agencies Advise Radio Silence

from the good-for-them dept

I was surprised that as early as Wednesday some tech firms were already putting out press releases about their products. Luckily, most PR firms are telling their tech clients that now is not the time. Most completely agree. A few, however, were not so thoughtful. There is the argument that says we shouldn’t let this tragedy get us down and should continue business as usual. I understand that sentiment, but there should be a time of mourning and sympathy. I fully intend to get back to business as usual, and many others do as well. But, to announce a new product or new campaign immediately following such an event is incredibly insensitive.
