Lawsuit Over Copy Protected CD

from the this-should-be-fun dept

A posting to the Politech list about a lawsuit that has been filed against the company that put out the Charlie Pride CD with copy protection, for invasion of privacy. The new Charlie Pride CD has some copy protection features – which are not clearly stated on the CD. Apparently, you can’t listen to the CD on your computer unless you register it first. The lawsuit says this is an invasion of privacy. This should be very interesting to watch. I wonder if others will start suing as well. The recording industry still doesn’t realize that all they’re doing is pissing off the very people who give them money. Update: News.com is covering the story now, though they don’t give any credit to Politech for publicizing it in the first place.
