Michael Dertouzos Dead At 64
from the very-sad-news dept
Very sad news from Boston. Michael Dertouzos, the director of MIT’s Laboratory for Computer Science since 1974 and a huge contributor to making the web what it is today died on Monday at age 64. I’ve been a huge fan of his writings and ideas for a long time (and link to articles he’s written frequently). I recently saw him interviewed, and he seemed so excited about all of the stuff he’s been working on (mainly, Project Oxygen). It really is a terrible loss. I’ve heard from a few people who have known Dertouzos, and they say he wouldn’t want people to be sad, so think happy thoughts about all that he has given us.
Techdirt is off for the long weekend! We'll be back with our regular posts tomorrow.
