Think Globally, Surf Locally
from the surf-and-sip dept
While companies like MobileStar are trying to Wi-Fi up every Starbucks and other major areas, another company, Surf and Sip is thinking a lot smaller. They’re just helping to set up 802.11b wireless networks at local coffee shops. It’s unclear from the article if Surf and Sip is trying to become a big venture-backed company or what, but it makes them sound more like the equivalent of a local coffee shop when compared to the MobileStar/Starbucks of the world. Right now it’s free to use the network at any Surf and Sip location if you bring your own wirelessly enabled laptop, or you can rent one. Next year, though, they plan on charging – though significantly less than MobileStar’s pricing plan.

When do you think they will come out with the MacWireless or maybe the MacSurf and own the industry?

I thought things like Airwave were already mac friendly…
