Second Opinion – Online

from the why-should-doctors-bother-examining-their-patients? dept

Three Boston hospitals recently launched an online system for second opinions. Since it’s often difficult to schedule time with a specialist for a second opinion, and more and more people are asking for second opinions, they figured why not use the power of the internet. Of course, the online second opinions are expensive ($600) and not covered by insurance. Also, it might be a little odd to get a second opinion without ever seeing the doctor who’s giving you that opinion. Some people are also complaining about the price. I’m just wondering if the folks at those three hospitals are looking to spin this off into an IPO-able dot com or something.
