Dumb, Dumber, And TheGlobe.com
from the not-looking-good dept
Yet another review of Stephan Paternot’s memoirs about TheGlobe.com. While the last review we pointed to suggested that he wrote with as much skill as he managed the company, this review goes much further in trashing Paternot. The review says he “displays a sophomoric lack of insight into his own experiences that pencils him in as much younger than even the 27-year-old former dot-com co-CEO that he is.” Wow. Now, that’s harsh. It also points out that he pretty much spends the whole book trying to explain how brilliant he was in starting and running theGlobe.com. At the end, in talking about all the losses, however, he suggests that since everyone lost money, it’s not because of his own stupidity that theGlobe tanked. Salon points out that he seems to miss the fact that on the run up, everyone was making money as well – suggesting that it had nothing to do with his own brilliance.

It was the first online community I ever belonged to, I was in highschool when the comunity side went down, and was even a beta tester for a shorttime on my old amiga 1200. ah the memories. never really did know why the site went to the toilet, but now I do, thanks for the info!
