Dell Buying RIM?

from the could-happen dept

The same guy who last week was saying that Compaq should spin off iPaq is now saying that Dell should buy RIM. Last week, I thought he was crazy. This week, I think he’s making a little more sense. I’m not sure if it will happen (he puts the odds at 5 to 1), but it could make a lot of sense for Dell, and allow them to bundle Blackberries even closer with their PCs. Of course, the lack of independence could also hurt RIM as other PC makers would probably look to align themselves with other PDA companies. Though, if Dell really can get 40% of the PC market, who cares what the other guys do.
