Internet Crazed Teen Jumps To Death

from the reality-or-propaganda? dept

An article from China Daily talks about a teenager who jumped to his death after his parents forbade him from going to a local cybercafe. There are all sorts of quotes that make this whole internet thing seem like a horrible drug that is dangerous for our teens to be around. Substitute “cocaine” or “heroin” for the word “internet” in the article.

giv'em a taste of freedom...

…and they’ll jump if you take it away.

In all seriousness, the one child policy has lead to some very misdirected child-rearing practices and the children know *exactly* what they have to do to make their parents’ lives meaningless… it’s pretty cool actually, in an angst sort of way.
