Wall Street Performer Protocol

from the business-models-for-open-source dept

The second First Monday post of the day (despite their supposed claim to publish on the first Monday of the month, this month they were a bit late in posting their articles to the site). Here’s a proposal to create a sort of bond market for paying for open source projects. It’s an extension of the street performer protocol that has been discussed quite a bit where programmers won’t create a piece of software until it’s paid for. In this case, there’s the added layer of a bond market to help pay for the development. Seems a bit complex, and I’m still not sure such a model would work in reality. Still, an interesting read.
