New Useless Controversy In The Making: Trading TV Shows

from the seems-like-a-waste-of-time dept

Because it seems that the controversy over music trading online has become boring, and the movie debate hasn’t really gotten very interesting, now News.com is trying to stir up some controversy over trading TV shows online. The main twist here is that there are a few people with satellite dishes (the big ugly kind) that get TV shows as they’re sent to affiliates – and then upload them to the internet for trading. Thus, they get the shows without commercials and before they’re actually broadcast. Of course, they’re only getting the shows a few hours early, and it takes ridiculous amounts of time to download the shows over the internet. Somehow I don’t see this becoming a big threat to television any time in the near future.
