Wireless Web With Strings Attached
from the wireless-web-driving-PC-choices dept
An interesting article in Business Week that starts off talking about how the writer uses wireless web access, but makes some more interesting points down at the end. Basically, he’s suggesting that our choices for accessing wireless data, will in turn, influence our PC software/hardware buying decisions. For instance, the writer switched from Netscape and other programs to MS Outlook, because it syncs with his iPaq. He also thinks it’s less likely he’ll buy another Apple machine, since Microsoft has put so much work into Stinger that the next generation of phones are likely to work well with Windows PCs, but not so much with Apple. I’m not sure I buy that wireless will drive PC choices, but it is an interesting theory. If people find wireless devices/access to be essential, it definitely could have some effect.
