Terra Lycos Looking At Buying Earthlink Or CNET

Terra Lycos is apparently in talks to buy either Earthlink or CNET. I’m not sure this makes sense for any of the companies involved. However, if they did buy CNET, then CNET, ZDNet, and WiredNews would all be under the same corporate roof. While all three companies have struggled at times recently, it seems that combining them might only make the struggle greater – since they’d have to deal with the integration of some very different businesses. I think that all three companies have the opportunity to survive on their own – but the costs associated with combining them might not be worthwhile.
