The Sky Isn't Falling

from the plenty-of-jobs-to-go-around dept

Wired has an article suggesting that the job market for techies isn’t as bad as everyone wants to believe it is. Tech jobs, in fact, have been increasing. There are a few reasons for this. First, many non-tech company jobs are still hiring techies – and hiring techies doesn’t make as much (or well any) news as compared to laying off techies. Also, while layoff announcements have been popular, actual layoffs have been less so. Companies are encouraged to announce layoff plans, even if they don’t follow through – and many employers haven’t.
