A Turnaround Suggested By Commercials

In tough times, I guess everyone tries to find their own indicators for the future. Michael Malone has chosen to use TV commercials. First he jokes about two overly-optimistic-about-the-internet commercials that seem out of date. Then he talks about new commercials from Apple and Microsoft that are more focused on the consumer electronics side of the business. From this he concludes that these two very smart companies (run by two very smart guys) have passed on the PC era and are moving on to the next big thing – and this indicates that the tech downturn is already ending. I’m not sure I believe the conclusion (it does come across as mostly wishful thinking), but it’s still a good read.
