Will RadioActive Be In Trouble?

from the probably dept

Because the recording industry always likes to make things more difficult for its consumers, expect RadioActive to have a legal fight on its hands soon. The software, which is designed to learn what sort of music you like and then scour internet radio stations to find good ones for you, has a small problem. That problem is the additional feature that lets you record the streaming radio. Sure, it’s legal to record a regular radio station. Sure, this is the exact same thing a completely legal Tivo does with TV (with probably much better quality). But, this is the internet, and all sorts of common sense and understandings of reality fly right out the window when folks at the RIAA sense that they might be losing a dime. Any bets on how long until lawsuit #1 is filed?
