ASPs Not Dead Yet

from the round-two dept

A new study is coming out that despite popular opinion, there is a future for ASPs. I definitely think that’s true – but I think it may come in a different form than people expect. The first problem was that the current (mostly defunct) ASPs simply tried to take existing programs and squeeze them onto the internet. For them to be successful, I think new applications will start showing up that take advantage of the fact that they’re based over the web, and will add specific features that aren’t possible on a desktop based application.
