The Return Of The Buy IBM Theory
from the nobody-ever-gets-fired dept
The old phrase “nobody ever got fired for buying IBM”, is becoming fashionable again as companies are worried about giving big important deals to startups that might not be in existence next week. It’s funny because a year or two ago, people used to make fun of that phrase and say that all those people who bought IBM were going out of business as the startups ran circles around them. I guess those people are the ones hanging out at the pink slip parties these days.

I buy IBM stuff as 1st choice.
At least with hard drives.
1) IBM holds key density patents. Thus they have a cheaper price on big drives
2) The IBM drives seem to hold up better over time. (VERY Limited dataset however)
