Mini-bots Are Back!

from the let's-make-it-really-small-so-that-we-can-take-cool-photo's-on-quarters dept

Those Uber-scientists at Sandia labs have done it again. They built another tiny robot. Both its size and the manufacturing processes used seem compelling. This tiny autonomous robot (small enough to fit on the surface of a quarter) was basically built to be a roving sensor. The robot will eventually house, chemical, infra-red, microphone and video sensors as well as a radio transmitter/receiver. I wouldn’t be surprised if we started to see similar mini-robots in commercial production plans within the next year or two.
