Juno To Pimp Users' Computing Power

from the different-business-models dept

Okay, you’re Juno, a struggling ISP who can’t figure out how to make money by giving away free internet access. What do you do? Okay, you’re one of what seems like a thousand companies to see the light when you heard about the distributed.net challenge or (more likely) SETI@Home. No one’s paying attention to you despite how cool you think you are. What do you do? Well, maybe you should work together to use the processing power of all those freeloaders. Hell, if they can freeload, why can’t you? It’s not clear where the distributed computing technology Juno plans to use will come from, but at least they’re trying to make money now.
