Loudcloud In Trouble?
from the they're-doing-what? dept
People are finally starting to suggest that Loudcloud might not be such a great idea. Poor Marc Andreessen. The company has raised approximately $200 million to focus on what could be a niche market (providing managed internet services to startups) at a tough time (startups don’t want to spend money right now). And, if they try to expand beyond their niche, they’re suddenly competing with their data center partners. Oops. Nice business plan. Plus, when they first launched they were apparently cocky enough to turn away lots of business suggesting that companies just weren’t “good enough”, and made a few enemies. They’re now trying to soften their stance on customers a bit, since their IPO keeps getting delayed, and they probably could use a few of those spurned customers.
