What It's Like To Be An Online Woman

from the discrimination-in-everquest... dept

A somewhat bizarre article written by a guy who decided to see what it would be like to play a female character in the game Everquest. He was apparently (and not surprisingly) treated very differently than when he played a male character. Other male characters were much more talkative and protective – and willing to settle for worse deals when doing business. They also wanted to be around her, and asked “her” to join their groups. However, “she” also felt like she was in a world of construction workers who were constantly whistling her way.
