Problems With Patents

There’s nothing particularly new in this article if you follow anything having to do with patents, but it’s a good summary of the problems with patents today. Instead of “leveling the playing field” and encouraging innovation, it’s doing the opposite. Companies are getting patents for business models or algorithms and then using them to extort from other companies who developed the same idea entirely separately.
